Opening Concert to Start the Season

On September 5, 2026, at 7:00 p.m., the Anhaltisches Theater Dessau will kick off the new season (2026/2027) with a festive open-air opening concert at the Mausoleum in the Dessau Zoo.

As in the previous year, the new season begins where the old one ended: at the Mausoleum in the Dessau Zoo. Hosted by General Director Johannes Weigand, the concert will feature excerpts from the new season’s program, including selections from the operas *The Marriage of Figaro* by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, *Jenůfa* by Leoš Janáček, and *Turandot* by Giacomo Puccini. Songs from the family opera *Tom Sawyer*, with music by Kurt Weill, will also be presented.

A new musical will also enrich the program: “Bajazzo Must Not Burst!” The ballet ensemble will offer a glimpse into the new production “Myths of Love,” featuring the story of Psyche and music by César Franck.

In addition, highlights from the Anhaltische Philharmonie’s repertoire will be performed, and the theater company will also present a musical number.

Tickets (seated) are available as usual at the box office and online; in addition, numbered tickets for standing room will again be distributed free of charge at the box office this year. For the time being, the number of numbered tickets is limited to 1,000.
Security checks will be conducted at the entrance; dangerous items, including glass bottles, are not permitted.
